Despite having lived back in the USA for over a year now, I still incidentally practice Swedish to myself from time-to-time, holding onto it for some reason. I don't know why entirely, there is no reason to. It probably makes me feel special in a way since I know most American-Americans do not know a second language, so I feel like I'm in some sort of secret club of sorts, despite understanding that the reality of most Europeans is them knowing 2-3 languages due to upbringing and education, and despite knowing that, this does not in fact make me special in any meaningful way, rather being something to just attach my ego to which American Protestantism and Consumerism has led me to believe has some sort of inherent value, which can then be advertised to and sold products to as to facilitate the consumption of good and services under Capitalism. Considering this, it is actually more of a reality check on the depressing lack of care the culture and systems of America show to others. Despite such a high Latino and Hispanic population in the USA, the rate of non-Hispanic Americans knowing Spanish is abysmal.

I started learning ASL, but I have not put enough time into it to consider it something to talk about in a somewhat meaningful capacity. Hopefully with time that changes.

Oh yeah, Swedish.

This is a weird one. It threw me off guard when I read it online this morning while reading a Swedish article title. It was a word I had seen many times but for some reason, I am now just registering it as something that I should probably understand by now (in the loose sense of "should". there is no reason for this.)

Jaha! Nu förstår jag... (Aha! I understand now...). It seems that it can both be used as an intensifier "That is such a nice dog!" or to indicate a kind of something "Be careful, such words are considered vulgar." Lets try some examples.

	Jag	ska	köpa	en	sådan	bil.
	I	shall	buy	a	such	car.

I'm going to buy a car like that. (such a car, a car of that kind)

	En	sån	snygg	klänning	du	har!
	A	such	pretty	dress	you	have!

Such a pretty dress you have! (what)

	Jag	tar	en	sådan.
	I	take	one	such.

I'll take one of them. (of those, of that kind, of such [things])

	Det	är	just	sånt	jag	uppskattar!
	That	is	exactly	such	I	Appreciate!

That's exactly the sort of thing I appreciate! (what, the kind of thing, such which_[stiff] )

The tricky part when trying to digest these is how English has many different ways to both intensify and depict something is of the qualities of another thing; It is hard to figure out whether or not now is a good time to use a particular word in a particular context. This is something that is common to run across when learning other languages. Swedish has the same thing where you can use multiple words and expressions to mean the same thing, but the arrangement of what to use and when has no guarantee in lining up with English.

Okej! Låt oss se om vi inte kan köra ett par exempel nu. Ett sådant att jag potentialt skulle tycka om att kunna tro fungerar vore ett sådan här mening. En sån hemsk mening att läsa är jag säker. Ibland undrar jag ofta om andra tycker att vad jag säger/skriver på svenska (när jag inte försöka skapa absurda meningar) är konstigt att läsa fortfarande. Antagligen, men sånt är livet. Att tänker på sådana saker är dock antagligen inte det bästa att man ska göra.
